CHRISTMAS IS OVER!

This is Great Grandma Lilly holding Luke. Don't they look sweet!

All 13 great grandkids on the Lilly side.

So we had a lot of Christmas' this year. One on the 19th, two on the 24th, 26th, and the 27th. As you can see Luke was pooped out. We had a great time in Kansas. Luke did awesome, hardly made a peep as we took the 14 hour trip there and then back with Shannon and Gavin. We even attended Darcy's baby shower on the 27th also. Now we are getting ready for our New Year's Eve party that my husband is making throw. I'm still going to good to bed at 10 because someone won't have to get up several times throughout the night and get up a 5 am.

That's right Lilly is pushing Luke is a play stroller. I was supervising.

GK Holiday Program

So last Tuesday was Growing Kids Holiday Porgram. Luke came and sat with my parents while I worked. Afterwards my Boss' wife Beth was so excited to meet him she took a ton of pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. By the way Mrs. Clause is actually Miss Louise who is one of his infant teachers when he starts in January. (tear) Look knows that it was Louise by the way.

New Schedule

Luke is on a new schedule and this is day number 2. It is going really well. He likes to talk to the little doggies on the bouncy seat and the little guy sleeps just like mommy (legs underneath the body). His is so cute!

First Play Date

Today Luke had his first "play date" with Blake. My good friend Shanna had Blake about 9 days ago. Its crazy to think that Luke was his size nine weeks ago. As you see they really enjoyed their time together. Luke looks like a monster here at he is only 10 pounds. It's amazing how quickly babies grow.

Time Flies!

Luke had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. He is growing sooo fast. He is 10.2 lbs and 22 inches tall now. Still in newborn clothing but they are starting to phase out. I love taking care of him. I know he loves me because he follows me with his eyes whenever I am around. I just hope that continues when he goes to daycare...BOO! Atleast I am only three doors done, too bad I tell my staff that can't be with their children when their on the clock. I'm going to have to follow my own words. I LOVE LUKE!

Dedication

My baby boy was dedicated this morning at church. Most of the family was able to be there for this big moment in Luke's life...even though he will not remember it but his loving parents will. I tried to find a newborn suit but no luck so he was dressed like a prep.

Luke is all smiles in the morning and if I do say so myself...it's the cutest thing ever. He smiles a lot like I did when I was little.

It was really hard to decorate with a little one. This year are tree is about 10 feet tall. It is huge so it was difficult to decorate seeing that I am only half as tall. I tried my best. I also hung the wreaths and things around the windows with the new command hooks and they did not work. They all fell down so I need to figure out what to do to get it up.

Monday my mom took to me to shippshe for my B-day present. We have been doing this for years...its our tradition. Luke of course joined us so this is a picture of her in the fancy bathroom. They had a little private are for moms to nursery. Thank you! We had a great time and Luke did wonderfully.

Silly Luke

When I got up several mornings ago, I picked Luke up out of his pack n' play and this is what he had done. He is such a little peanut that he got his arm through the neck hole of his sleeper sack. What a stinker!

Chaput Thanksgiving

My mom found this really cute turkey idea and with Jen's help they created it wonderfully.

On Saturday my family got together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Unlike my brother I love getting together for Thanksgiving even though we get together every Sunday. There is just something different about it. Luke was really excited about the day by sleeping through most of the day. (Which he NEVER does).

On other news Luke has been running a low grade temperature for a couple weeks and is still unable to poo on his own. I ended up having to take him to get an x-ray of his intestines and colon. I get the results back tomorrow so hopefully we find out whats going on. Oh...they weighed him and he is already 9.4 lbs. When we left the hospital he was only 6.3 lbs. He is growing too fast or it could just be stored up poo seeing that he is still wearing newborn clothing. I love this little guy but keep him in your prayers.

This Week

Luke has been very busy in babyland. He had a slight fever for a couple of days and still is unable to poo on his own. I finally gave in and assisted him (I won't go into details). He slept over an hour and half in his crib for naptime. That's a big deal because he really doesn't like laying flat. He likes his bouncey seat A LOT!

Luke is our little burrito!
Today Aunt Kate and cousin Judah popped by to go on Luke's very first walk. Judah was really excited to hang out with us, as you can see. He even tried to push Luke's stroller. I love Judah.

Sorry the picture is blurry but I wanted to get a picture of Luke actually sleeping in his crib without waking him so I turned the flash off. You can't really tell but Luke is turned looking at his rain forest soother and the pacifier is hanging out of the side of his mouth. I really love this boy. I can't wait until he is able to sleep in his crib throughout the night. Oh sleep...how I miss thee.

Update on Luke

Luke has being adjusting well to life so far. He still sleeps a lot so thats pretty much all the pictures I am able to get.

Just ignore the bags underneath my eyes. Apparently getting up several times throughout the night can make you a bit tired.
Bella has been such a good big sister. Whenever Luke cries, Bella has to make sure he is okay. It is really cute. This is a glimpse into the future. And yes, ESPN was on the TV!

One thing Luke is good at right now is putting his foot up in the air for a long period of time. If only Star Search was still up and running. He would be famous!!!
Luke is gaining weight wonderfully but that could also be apart of the fact he hasn't pooped in awhile. I feel so bad for him. He also had a slight fever this morning but he has been in good spirits. Being a mom has been really rewarding so far and I am really enjoying it!!

1st bath

Luke keep me busy yesterday. This is what he did...

He moved when I was taking a picture and I thought it was funny.
This morning I gave Luke his first real bath (not just a washcloth and water). His belly button cord fell off two days ago, his pee pee is all healed up and so he was ready for a deep cleaning. He did so well. No crying, just a little confused. He was so small in the tub I had to hold his head and then I decided to wrap a towel around him so he was stable. The only time he cried was when I took him out. He really doesn't like to be cold. Such a good little boy!

Life as a mom

I have really enjoyed being a mom so far. Luke is such a good baby which makes being a mom that more enjoyable. I know the picture below doesn't show his face but its so cute because he always covers his face with his hands. He doesn't like being cold or light. Just like his mommy.
Grandma has been such a help. She has been staying with us and helping out during the night. She says she hasn't earned her keep because he sleeps about 4-5 hours in between feedings during the night. Thank you for that even though when he does eat its about a hour a pop!

It's so weird to think that just 8 days ago this little guy appeared. I love him and Andrew does too! We have been blessed.

My Sister Ann

I am so proud of my sister Annie. She did such a good job growing that little guy! I know she'll be the best mommy to Luke, and Andrew will be an amazing daddy. I feel so priveliged to be here to see the pride, emotion, joy and utter exhaustion of the past 18 or so hours since we got to the hospital. I am gonna spoil that little baby with love and pray for him and his parents continually!

I've been able to see Luke through the window in the nursery, and here's the goods:
-He has a perfect little nose, or as Andrew said, "He got the nose we were hoping for!"
-He has a little bit of light brown hair...he's nowhere near as hairy as we thought he would be!
-He's absolutely beautiful, from head to toe.

I'll post some photos on Facebook when I get home tonight.

Love,
Aunt Katie
