1st bath

Luke keep me busy yesterday. This is what he did...

He moved when I was taking a picture and I thought it was funny.
This morning I gave Luke his first real bath (not just a washcloth and water). His belly button cord fell off two days ago, his pee pee is all healed up and so he was ready for a deep cleaning. He did so well. No crying, just a little confused. He was so small in the tub I had to hold his head and then I decided to wrap a towel around him so he was stable. The only time he cried was when I took him out. He really doesn't like to be cold. Such a good little boy!

Life as a mom

I have really enjoyed being a mom so far. Luke is such a good baby which makes being a mom that more enjoyable. I know the picture below doesn't show his face but its so cute because he always covers his face with his hands. He doesn't like being cold or light. Just like his mommy.
Grandma has been such a help. She has been staying with us and helping out during the night. She says she hasn't earned her keep because he sleeps about 4-5 hours in between feedings during the night. Thank you for that even though when he does eat its about a hour a pop!

It's so weird to think that just 8 days ago this little guy appeared. I love him and Andrew does too! We have been blessed.

My Sister Ann

I am so proud of my sister Annie. She did such a good job growing that little guy! I know she'll be the best mommy to Luke, and Andrew will be an amazing daddy. I feel so priveliged to be here to see the pride, emotion, joy and utter exhaustion of the past 18 or so hours since we got to the hospital. I am gonna spoil that little baby with love and pray for him and his parents continually!

I've been able to see Luke through the window in the nursery, and here's the goods:
-He has a perfect little nose, or as Andrew said, "He got the nose we were hoping for!"
-He has a little bit of light brown hair...he's nowhere near as hairy as we thought he would be!
-He's absolutely beautiful, from head to toe.

I'll post some photos on Facebook when I get home tonight.

Love,
Aunt Katie

HE'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

details to come!

Prepping to PUSH!!!

that's all for now.

Update

Ann is now 8-9 cm, and it's too late to mess with the epidural. The doctor is on his way, so we're hoping Luke will be here soon!

Prayer Needed

Ann's epidural took a long time to kick in, and now its only working on half of her back. Ann is in a lot of pain. The doctor will be in soon to try to reposition the epidural, and if that doesn't work, then she'll have to make the call whether or not to have a second epidural put in. Please pray that the repositioning would go well and that Ann would be able to receive some relief from the pain. Thanks!

Drugs.

She's getting the epidural as we speak. Hopefully that will take care of the pain. Pray for Luke's positioning and the back labor to be relieved. 100% effaced at last check, no change in dilation.

On a more lame note, I have rearranged the waiting room to include "conversation nooks" and a dining area for both adults and children. I know you're impressed.

Update

Still dilated to 6 cm, 90% effaced, back labor. Epidural coming soon.

HE'S COMING!!!!!

(This is Kate.)

Ann & Andrew are at the hospital right now getting ready for Luke's debut! Ann is very comfortable, only experiencing mild contractions, and is 6 cm dilated and 50% effaced. It looks like we might be waiting for awhile. I am in the room with them (until Andrew kicks me out), and they are trying to rest while they can. If you're reading this right now (at 1 in the morning): GO TO SLEEP! Ann will receive visitors after Luke is born and they have been moved to the Mother/Baby Room. I'll keep you updated until then!

Updates

I was real busy this week that I did not get to update you on my progress at 38 weeks. This week Andrew turned 26 on Wednesday, Thrsday I had a doctor's appointment and the Doctor thinks I have less then a week left, Friday we had both sides of the family over for an Open House to see the the finished house (and Lilly spent the night), and this morning I took Beth and Lilly to get pedicures. It was Beth's birthday present.

So it was a pretty busy day. I took all the needed ideas from my office in case Friday was my last day before I return from maternity leave. It is really weird to think that Luke could be here any day!!! Both Andrew and I are real excited but no contractions yet. Other things are going on but I'm going to save you the details.

Kate will update the blog to let you know whenI go into Labor. Fingers crossed that the doctor is right about me having him real soon.

FULL TERM

I am officially full term this week. Meaning Luke could come any day and come out "normal." So Andrew and I are so excited that we will be mommy and daddy very soon. I even installed the car seat on Monday.

The only problem about being so huge (besides being the huge part) is that I had to work from 7:00 in the morning till 7:45 at night with no break. Growing Kids is getting accredited and we had a verifier at my location and of course she has to meet with the person in charge at the end...which is me. It was way too long of day for being 9 months pregnant. I kept truckin though.
